More versatile and portable than the double bass, the electric bass has ensured its own future as a key member of the modern band set-up. Although sometimes mistakenly viewed as simply an additional band member (or just not viewed at all!), it is in fact the backbone of a band or a piece of music, providing the song’s solidity, drive, volume and, along with the drums, rhythm!

Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Muse, Thin Lizzy, Jamiroquai – just some of the most famous bands ever who are known worldwide for their bass lines and bass players! Whether it’s jazz bass ‘walking’ style or rock and roll blues lines and riffs, at Al Pascal Music you can learn to play in any style you like! Perhaps slap bass ‘Flea’ style is your thing, or maybe you prefer just really fast, loud energetic rock with lots of distortion! (Oh yes, bass has effects pedals too!).

So what’s all the ‘Hysteria’ about?

We can offer tuition for grades or any music qualifications that you may require including GCSE/A-Level/university courses or just help you learn to rock out! So why not ‘Take A Walk On The Wild Side’ and try something new? We will always go at your own pace so don’t feel ‘Under Pressure’ about difficulty – we’ll start off easy and before you know it…you’ll be a pro!

“The bass player’s function, along with the drums, is to be the engine that drives the car…everything else is merely colours.”
